Programming
Contact Albert
For many years Albert has held a fascination for radio, from the early 60s pirate radio sounds of Caroline on to Luxembourg in the early 70's and then the glory days of Radio 1.
Albert's interest in Community Radio stems from over 15 years experience of presenting shows on YFM, Witch and now The Cat. As well as presenting my drivetime show, my other role as Programming officer is to provide a wide a range of programming for the local community.
Along side this, one of my responsibilities is to ensure that day time radio on The Cat is full of popular music, from the 50s through to present day.
Chris Davies Chris Davies has been involved in community radio in Crewe and Nantwich from its earliest days with Youth FM. He's had roles in YFM, Witch FM and now The Cat.
His primary role at The Cat is to oversee the engineering and technical side of the station.
Chris has a background in electronics/electrical engineering, which comes in handy at the studio!

Drew Kirk
Drew Kirk has always loved being part of the radio.  When he was a young boy, he used to pretend to do a radio show on walkie talkies to someone in the other room. He had setup his own internet radio station when he was 14. Drew updates our website, keeps the internet stream running and also produces the videos. Sean Dyer
The youngest member of The Cat presenting team, Youth Liaison seems to be the perfect role for 16 year old Sean Dyer. Sean’s role on the committee is to champion the next generation of Radio listeners and get as many youths in the area to listen to The Cat! Sean makes sure we’re looking into the right areas like schools and music venues. Our Facebook and Twitter accounts are moderated by Sean so if you ever use profanity on there, he isn’t too pleased on most occasions.
If you’re an artist of any kind or want to tap into our Youth demographic through advertising and promotion, get in touch.

Paul Simpson
Paul Simpson is a born and bred Dabber, having lived in Nantwich all his life. He's been involved in local radio since 1994, previously involved in YFM and Witch FM.
His varied roles include producer, presenter and editor, along with studio engineering. Along with his committee obligations, Paul will take to the air once again for his weekend shows, with co-presenter Julie Lewis.
Behind the scene Paul has been training the presenters to use our new studio, compiling the schedules with Albert Dean and working with Chris Lindop on the computer playout system.

Our vision of local radio for Crewe and Nantwich

Crewe and Nantwich Community Radio Society is a small group of individuals who are passionate aboutbringing local radio to Crewe and Nantwich. Having run successful local radio trials in Crewe and Nantwich a few years back, we feel that its now time to provide our towns with a full time community radio station. Chances are you've probably heard of us before, working under the names of Witch FM, YFM and Youth FM. All hugely successful temporary radio stations, which brought our communities together - but only for one month at a time.

What does The Cat hope to achieve?

The Cat's main goal is to provide a full time local radio station for the Crewe and Nantwich area. At present, there is no full time license available for our area, but this will hopefully change in the next few years. Until a full time license is advertised, we are allowed to undertake 2, 28 day broadcasts each year - a kind of trial broadcast called a Restricted Service.
South Cheshire is a mixed urban and rural area of villages and hamlets surrounding the town of Crewe and market town of Nantwich. The target community comprises 98,000 people who live, study and work in this area.
Our prime objective is to provide the people of Crewe and Nantwich with a radio station that embraces the whole community, it will be a medium for community expression and a force for community development. The Cat will offer broad-based community programming, reflecting the needs and values of all sections of the community.
Crewe and Nantwich are not adequately served by existing BBC or commercial stations. The Cat is owned and operated as a social enterprise resource with the listener actively engaged in providing content for the station. The station will aid the rapidly changing economic, social and cultural regeneration of our area.
Through our programming content and general ethos, The Cat's aims are to...
- Offer quality programming to inform, educate and entertain
- Encourage participation and interaction from all disadvantaged groups in the area
- Espouse the community spirit and ethos of community development projects and promote the benefits of community action
- Provide access to training and promote the benefits of training to marginalized sectors of society to enhance their employability or pursuance of further education opportunities
- Reflect the diversity of opinion, cultures, ethnicity, religious, demographic and social backgrounds of those living in our area
The Cat's philosophy is 'equal opportunity of access for all'. A significant proportion of our broadcasting will comprise of local news. This coverage will concentrate on local issues and events, and events or issues that impact on or are of interest and importance to our community. Music written and/or preformed by local talent will be strongly featured. Youth, special interest and educational programming of all types will also feature.
Priority will be placed on producing and broadcasting quality programming at all times and be the overriding concern of all involved with the station. Emphasis will be placed on providing training to all producers, broadcasters and others involved in the stations programming output, to ensure that high standards are achieved and maintained.

What does The Cat hope to achieve?

The Cat provides Crewe and Nantwich with a unique radio station that reflects the lives and aspirations of our community with a broad range of programmes that will inform, challenge and entertain. Our programme service will consist of a mix of sport, current affairs and community information.
The key aim of The Cat is to provide our community with a strong locally focused full-service radio station designed to reflect the identity of the area. The Cat will be a balanced speech and music station. Daytime music will be a blend of classic tracks from the past 40 years, appealing to the wide cross-section of our community. Speech will be locally focused news, sport, business and community information. There will also be the opportunity for discussion, debate and education.
