Show description

For those who want something a little different to the usual pop and rock music, turn to Japanese anime music! For two hours every week, Neko Desu (Japanese for "The Cat") brings the very best of Japanese anime music to Crewe and Nantwich.

"Anime music" is the music used in Japanese animated TV shows and films during opening credits and ending credits. The lyrics are almost always in Japanese, but the music in this show prove that lyrics are not important to enjoy a piece of music!

While the versions used as part of the TV show or film is around 1 minute 30 seconds long, singles or albums are released with full length versions from 3 minutes long to as much as 8 minutes!

That's not all. With "Neko Desu", you get a human presenter (Peter), not a computer program automatically picking music and playing it back-to-back. Live readouts of emails, texts, twitter messages and even live chats on the phone, with requests welcome any time (see below)!

Plus, at major anime events across the country, Peter interviews members of the public for requests and to spread the word about their favourite anime. Plus, Peter interviews big names in the anime industry, getting you exclusive news, views and upcoming anime releases for the UK.

Target audience

Those who want something different to the music any other radio show provides, and those who are already into anime, but want to hear more of the music.

You can request music by artist, anime or even genre! Just email using the link above any time before or during the show, or send a message to @thisisthecat on Twitter during the hour before the show starts, or during the show. Remember to tag Twitter messages with the #NekoDesu tag, which you can also use to chat with other listeners during the show.

How is the show relevant to the Crewe and Nantwich Community?
